Work package 3

Introduction

Co-lead by The SAMRC/Wits Centre for Health Economics and Decision Science (PRICELESS SA) in South Africa and The University of Edinburgh this Work Package will analyse how interactions with UCIs can be more effectively managed to promote effective health governance in policy, advocacy and research contexts. In advancing this Work Package we will draw on policy and legal studies in deploying document analysis, conducting semi- structured interviews and undertaking participatory stakeholder dialogues to:

  • Assess practices for identifying and managing terms of engagement with alcohol, UPF and fossil fuel industries in health governance across policy and research in SSA.
  • Examine how policy and legal commitments to partnerships with the private sector impact on coordination across government ministries.
  • Explore how effective management of conflict of interest can promote policy coherence.
